SustainabilityThe path to walk towards a more sustainable lifestyle is very long and broad. There are many ways available for each individual to contribute to take care of our environment. Greenhouse Policy Coalition has put together a list with useful tips, to help anyone wishing to walk along this path with us. Layer Up Instead of cranking up the heat on colder days, consider just adding extra layers of clothes. Wear comfy thick socks, your favourite hoodie, and thick fabric sweatpants. You will save not only on your utility bill but also on your carbon print and energy consumption rates. Plant your Food Ornamental plants are beautiful to look at, but there are quite a few vegetables and herbs you can plant and harvest yourself. Additionally, any of the goods you do not consume, you can donate to neighbours and charity organizations like food pantries. Reuse and Cycle Away Bicycles can be purchased second-hand and are perfectly functional. You can reuse an item that would only add to pollution and waste otherwise. Moreover, you can reduce your carbon print by doing all your commuting on this wonderful second-hand bicycle. Bring your Own Bags and Containers Instead of using a new plastic bag or purchasing items that come in plastic containers, bring your own recyclable bag and prefer stores that sell stuff you can put in your own containers. This way you make sure all the packaging for your articles is toxic-free and entirely eco-friendly. Choose Online Entertainment A great example of this is choosing to play all online slots in an online casino, rather than visiting a physical one. You reduce your carbon print, by not having to travel anywhere to gamble away. You do not contribute to the large casinos’ waste-producing and high energy consumption facilities. Support Ethical and Eco-friendly Companies There are many companies out there making the best efforts to keep their processes and products completely ecofriendly. Choose these companies instead of those that offer toxic and wasteful products, to encourage and support their operations. Every customer they gain is a customer the less eco-friendly companies lose. Following these simple tips is easy and sometimes quite fun. Include all your activities in your path towards sustainability and you will soon see the change in the environment around you. Support businesses and your community by buying secondhand items or from companies that have green policies....

Innovation / SustainabilityThere is a trend referred to as Green IT or Green Computing, which entails the minimization of the environmental impact of computing technologies. We would like to lay out the facts so you can contrast how Green IT companies such as Casino nugget, are better for the environment than any of the highly polluting industrial businesses. Greener Companies Since the creation of Energy Star, the IT-related companies have been slowly migrating towards systems that function with low energy. An excellent example can be seen in IBM and Hewlett-Packard’s applications for database energy management. The computation companies have also developed algorithms and protocols automating energy saving rates. Reuse and Recycle With all the hardware used by computing companies being updated at an alarming speed, the Green IT tendency focuses on turning to reuse options. Many companies have taken steps to sponsor initiatives encouraging customers to turn in the hardware they are no longer using, enabling the companies to reuse them. Virtual Data Bases Green IT also works hand in hand with businesses to help them reduce environmental impacts in their database processes. Long gone are the days where the databases consisted of huge folders with paper, which had the outcome of increased deforestation. Green IT provides low energy computing resources to keep those databases green. Cloud Storage The cloud can be described very basically as virtual hard drives. And we all know what it is like running out of space on our hard drives and having to go get another one, a bigger one. Maybe we just need an external hard drive because we travel too much. This is an alternative to using more hardware to keep more data. Virtualizing the storage alternative for users all over the world has helped keep the information available wherever they go. However, it has also allowed eliminating the amount of waste generated by individuals having to acquire increasing amounts of hardware to store data. These alternatives to the highly polluting industries not only create jobs and push technology advancements forward, but also protect the environment. Making sure you take the more eco-friendly routes, the Green IT initiative has your back as well as the Earth’s. Everybody is happy and our planet will always thank you....

SustainabilityThe use of online casinos like Online casino vegas Palms is on the rise. Here we would like to expound on the reasons that make them the greener alternative to their physical counterparts, putting things in perspective for our gambling readers. No Carbon Footprint for Traveling Travelling anywhere leaves a carbon footprint behind. This footprint vanishes when you choose to stay where you are and just log on to an online casino, instead of driving or flying to a physical one. Not only are you more comfortable and can gamble for however long you want, but you will also be contributing to stopping climate change. Significantly Less Energy-Consuming Physical casinos consume tons of energy and not always make sure their sources are renewable. However, online casinos don’t need all the separate machines, fancy bright lighting and the kitchens running up to the maximum to please customers. No Waste Produced There is no waste produced by online casinos. No drinks or water spilled by customers, food leftovers going to the trashcans due to casino policies. There’s no huge wasting of water to keep their bathrooms pristine, with the huge affluence of people. An online casino reduces the waste to whatever you make it in daily life. No Pollution The bright lights, the heating, the big kitchens, the chemicals used to clean the facilities. All of these are pollutant agents that harm the environment the physical casino is set up at. With an online casino, the levels of pollution are kept down to a minimum. You have better control over how your gambling will pollute by even keeping the volume down. Online casinos are definitely the greener alternative, in times where it is paramount to be aware of our carbon prints and pollution. They out best physical casinos in virtually every single aspect and will continue to do so. At Greenhouse Policy Coalition we strongly advise you to go online, if you want to go green....

    • 4 New Zealand Policies to Work towards Sustainability4 New Zealand Policies to Work towards Sustainability
Innovation / SustainabilitySince 1988, New Zealand has taken active measures to help stop climate change. Starting with the New Zealand Climate Change Programme, which was overseen by this country’s Ministry for the Environment. However, as the needs to keep evolving and new technologies are developed, the policies adopted to protect the environment have been multiplying. This list does not cover even half of the initiatives both government and private sectors have devised to make New Zealand greener, yet it’s a good start. New Zealand Energy Strategy With the ambitious goal of having 90% of all of the country’s electricity being drawn from renewable sources by 2025, this strategy was released in October 2007. It’s not just theory either, as it contains a plan to start actively implementing it. The New Zealand Energy Strategy isn’t aimed just at conserving the resources, but also reducing emissions. National Environmental Standards It has also been a policy of the NZ government to establish high-quality standards for all-natural resources. As an example, The Air Standard has already been implemented. There are standards being developed regarding water measuring devices and their human drinking sources. The standards include even electricity transmission in addition to telecommunication facilities. It’s currently under evaluation with the possibility of incorporating standards for procedures to handle contaminated lands, along with wastewater systems. New Zealand Packaging Accord This Accord is a compromise for reducing environmental pollution by implementing sustainable packaging. It was born as a voluntary joint effort by the government with the private sector. It’s represented by the Ministry for the Environment and the Packaging Council of New Zealand. It is enforced by making sure the producers assume all responsibility for any outcomes generated by their packaging. The whole industry of packaging is involved in this Accord, from the manufacturers to the consumers and everybody in between. Envirolink This scheme is made to enable and fund Regional Councils in their endeavour to research any projects and topics related to the environment. With over $1.5 million per year, the main focus is on bringing knowledge to the practice and making sure the management tools are adapted to the needs of the region. With these policies put in place by New Zealand’s government, the country takes several steps forward to a sustainable future. Making sure the standards and quality of life of its people aren’t downgraded, yet rather enhanced. These are all smart moves in the right direction, and more policies are born and implemented every year....
    • Building your Eco-friendly House – 4 Things to keep in MindBuilding your Eco-friendly House – 4 Things to keep in Mind
SustainabilityWe commend you on any initiatives you wish to take, in order to lead a more sustainable life. However, at Greenhouse Policy Coalition we understand building your ecofriendly house isn’t a small project and everybody could use some advice. Thus, we tell you the things you should keep in mind when deciding to pursue such a task. Keep Harmony with your Surroundings No matter how isolated you might want to be, your surroundings will always include ecosystems. And if you’re not interested in isolation, you will also be a part of a new community. Focus on avoiding the disruption of the activities taking place in the area you wish to build in. A little research would suffice to achieve this small goal. Take Advantage of Renewable Resources Make sure you implement systems that take advantage of any renewable resources around you. Include the use of natural light in your design, as well as gathering and using rainwater. Additionally, you should set your house up with good insulation aimed at keeping the heat inside when needed. Be Mindful of Materials Make sure the materials you use are appropriate for achieving the purpose required. Along with this, avoid materials that are toxic, or not really from sustainable sources. Finally, consider the aesthetics these materials will provide to enhance the experience at your home. Reduce, Reuse and Recycle A crucial part of building an eco-friendly home is keeping in mind the minimization of any waste you might generate. Reduce by trying to avoid overstocking supplies. Also, ensure you have systems in place to reuse any waste, such as compost to take advantage of organic waste. Finally, there are some systems to recycle the water you use at home. Building an eco-friendly home is about living in harmony with your surroundings. You should always keep in mind the materials you use to build your design, and complement it with systems that enable the use of renewable resources while reducing, reusing and recycling....
